Registration Process

The Institute of Pest Risk Management (The Institute) requires full payment of fees for all workshops and seminars to be made ten (10) days prior to the advertised workshop or seminar date unless otherwise negotiated. Once registration is processed we will issue a confirmation receipt/tax invoice. Places will be allocated in the order applications are received and there is no guarantee that a place will be available until registration payment notification is received.

All fees are based on cost-recovery. The Institute of Pest Risk Management does not aim to make any more than a modest profit from any event.

Health and Safety

The Institute of Pest Risk Management is committed to ensuring that the health and safety of all persons is a priority. At the beginning of each event, presenters will communicate a safety plan for all participants. In the event of an emergency, participants are required to follow all reasonable directions of the presenters and/or the Institute or venue staff. At the point of registration, participants are required to inform the Institute of any health or other related information that will enable the organisers to effectively attempt to meet any specific needs.

The Institute of Pest Risk Management reserves the right to cancel any event where registrations within fourteen (14) days prior to the event date are insufficient to cover fixed costs. The Institute of Pest Risk Management may also substitute the scheduled presenters at any time. If a registered attendee is unable to attend an event the attendee must notify The Institute of Pest Risk Management at the earliest opportunity and may nominate a substitute to attend in their place, provided that notification is received by The Institute of Pest Risk Management promptly and in any event at least twenty four (24) hours prior to the event date. Such substitute must be eligible for the same fee as originally paid or, if a greater fee is due, an adjustment fee will be levied. If The Institute of Pest Risk Management is required to cancel an event for whatever reason, all reasonable attempts will be made to notify Registered Participants as soon as possible and, at the option of the person or business that paid the fees:

a) the Registered Participant will receive a refund (less administrative fee), or

b) the Registered Participant may elect to place the fee towards registration to another event held within nine (9) months of the cancellation date, such notification to be provided by email within 10 working days of the cancelled event.

A registered attendee must notify The Institute of Pest Risk Management in writing or by telephone if they wish to cancel their attendance at a seminar. Notifications received more than fourteen (14) days before the event may attract a full refund (less administration fee) but notifications made after that time will be reduced and no refund is normally available where cancellation notification is received less than seven (7) working days before the event.

The Institute of Pest Risk Management is not liable for any losses or incidental costs incurred as a result of or arising from, any cancellation by a Registered Participant or by the Institute. Further, The Institute of Pest Risk Management will not be liable for expenses such as the prepayment of travel, meals or accommodation incurred by a Registered Participant arising from the discontinuation of a seminar. To avoid losses from cancellation, it is strongly suggested that participants not pay for travel and accommodation to attend an event until fourteen (14) days prior to the event.

Attendees are encouraged to participate in events but agree to follow the directions of presenters, Institute and venue staff. In general, the Chatham House Rule applies such that during and after an event, all participants are free to use the information received, but (i) neither the identity nor the affiliation of any speaker(s), nor that of any other participant, nor any company or product that was mentioned, (ii) nor the event at which the information was received, may be revealed by any means including social media. See https://www.chathamhouse.org/

Photos, videos and recordings are not permitted. All attendees will at all times behave in a courteous and respectful manner. Criticism of the work, products or processes of others is to be avoided. Mobile phones must be turned off or set to silent mode during proceedings. Any attendee in possession of a phone that makes any interrupting sound will be subject to a $25 fine, immediately due, which will be forwarded to a nominated charity.

Any attendee may be excluded or removed at any time where, in the opinion of a presenter or member of Institute or venue staff the attendee is considered to have failed to meet these conditions or to have behaved in an offensive, disrespectful or unprofessional manner, appears intoxicated or fails to follow the reasonable direction of a presenter or member of venue staff in which case no refund will be due.
